Photography... anyone?

I've always thought that life was short. But a passing memory. A flower quickly fading away.

I think the beauty of photography is that we are able to capture such moments of our lives. In a single photograph, we are able to capture more than just a digitized image, a scenery, but a memory.

We see it in TVs and on the big Cinema screens... how crucial this "memory" is to a person. We just watched a Grey's Anatomy episode of a lady who has lost her memory in an accident, and she is devastated because she cannot remember who she was, not even her own name. When someone loses his/her memory, it's as if the person has lost his/her individuality. It is as if the person no longer exists in the world.

That brings me to yet another movie, "It's a Wonderful Life", which is an old Christmas-time classic, based on a man who has financial issues, and wishes that he never existed. And his wishes come true, where he ended up in a world which he did not exist in... and he longs to belong to the world, and to be with those that he love, his family, friends...

One of the beauty of photography is that you are able to capture the "moment", a "memory", a part of your life, and cherish it for as long as you want.

On a related note, I took a couple of shots @ Oakland airport, when we were leaving for LAX... Capturing a "moment" is fun especially at the airport, because it is full of blurred moments, going from one terminal to the next... trying to catch the flight, etc...

nice! i love how you're really milking every penny out of that normal lens. i challenged myself to do the same once, and went to SF just with that 50 - and... ohhh man i missed my zooms.

"short life" seems to be the recurring theme of this blog. if God photographs, i wonder what kinds of photos He'd show us when we meet? but on earthly timescale, we've still got much to go and lots to accomplish~

one of the biggest challenges to photography is capturing the spirit and the sound in a still picture. how we can go about doing that is... well.

only the photographer knows. =)
